Learn the Science — Not the Slogans
At Skills for Nurses™, we don’t teach “foot care magic.”We teach the evidence-based, standards-aligned nursing science that will meet the Canadian Nurses Association’s 2026 certification expectations.
Our curriculum isn’t written to sound exciting — it’s written to make you competent, compliant, and confident.
Here’s the difference:
Skills for Nurses™ | Other Programs | |
Foundation | Based on CAFCN National Competencies for Advanced Nursing Foot Care | Generalized topics not linked to national competencies |
Content Depth | In-depth anatomy, pathophysiology, wound care, infection control, and diabetic management | Simplified or dramatized topics (“superpowers,” “magic”) lacking evidence-based reference |
Professional Integrity | Taught by nurses, for nurses, within CNO and RPNAO scope | Marketed to “anyone” — often without professional screening |
Outcomes | CNA 2026-ready, practice-based, portfolio-driven learning | Certificate only — limited recognition or professional value |
“We Train the Nurses Who Lead”
Our Advanced Foot Care Course is the only Ottawa-based program that fully aligns with the CAFCN 2017 National Standards and prepares nurses for the CNA’s forthcoming 2026 certification rollout.
That means when regulation tightens (and it will), our graduates will already be ahead — compliant, competent, and confident.
Because we don’t believe in shortcuts. We believe in setting the standard.
Our Advanced Foot Care Curriculum: Where Standards Meet Skill
At Skills for Nurses™, we don’t just hand out certificates — we build competence, confidence, and careers. Our program is nationally aligned with the Canadian Association of Foot Care Nurses (CAFCN) and the Canadian Nurses Association’s (CNA) 2026 Certification Rollout — meaning you’re training to the standard that’s shaping the future of foot care nursing in Canada.
The Theory
Your journey starts online, where you’ll master the foundations outlined in the CAFCN National Competency Framework — including anatomy, pathology, diabetic foot care, infection control, wound management, gait and biomechanics, and ethical practice in independent nursing.Once you complete the theory, you’re ready to step into the clinical — where the magic (and the mentorship) happens.
The Clinical: Real Skills, Real Practice
Day 1: You’ll dive straight into your professional-grade foot care kit — and we mean your kit. Each student receives and unpacks their own fully stocked set of tools and products, giving you everything needed to launch your career or mobile practice.
You’ll review each instrument in detail, then head with your educator to one of our two on-site autoclaves, where you’ll learn to sterilize your own instruments according to Ontario Health and IPAC standards.
Day 2: You’ll observe a live foot care appointment as your educator demonstrates assessment techniques, tool use, and infection control. Then — it’s your turn. You’ll perform foot care on each other under supervision, practicing step-by-step assessment, treatment, and documentation.
Day 3: It’s all you.A full eight-hour day of hands-on practice with volunteers, giving you the time, feedback, and repetition you need to master both confidence and competence. By the end of the day, you’ll be performing complete, safe, and professional-level treatments — ready to take on your own clients the next morning.
And don’t just take our word for it — every one of our 23 nurses trained through TiredSole™ says the same thing:
“By Saturday, you’re confident enough to go out on your own.”
Certificates, Reimbursement, and Career Pathways
Upon completion, you’ll receive a Certificate of Completion and a Letter of Course Completion for submission to both the Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario (RNAO) and the Registered Practical Nurses Association of Ontario (RPNAO) — eligible for education reimbursement of up to $1,500 per calendar year.(Our students see a 90% success rate with these payouts!)
And because we believe in rewarding dedication, if you choose to join our team at Tired Sole™, working a minimum of two days per week (6 hours/day), we’ll reimburse your entire course after one year of employment.
Why It Matters
While some programs talk about “magic” and “superpowers,” we focus on science, standards, and skill. When you graduate from Skills for Nurses™, you don’t just earn a certificate — you earn professional credibility. You’ve trained to the national standards that the CNA will soon require.
