The Conversations Foot Care Nursing Needs Right Now

We recently wrapped a series of podcast conversations that go beyond surface-level discussion and get to the heart of what’s really happening in foot care practice today.

Across five in-depth episodes of The Tired Sole Truth, we brought together experienced foot care nurses and a Toronto-based chiropodist for honest, sometimes uncomfortable, but deeply necessary conversations about the profession.

We talked openly about:

  • Professional integrity and ethical practice

  • The changing landscape of certification and national standards

  • Course quality and preparation for real-world practice

  • Scope, collaboration, and interdisciplinary respect

  • Why competition fragments care — and why consistency and collaboration raise standards for everyone

Despite coming from different roles and practice environments, every guest shared one clear priority: patients must always come first.

One of the most impactful conversations was with a busy chiropodist practicing in Toronto, who spoke candidly about the value nurses bring to foot care and how collaborative practice helps expedite patient access to care in his community. These are the kinds of professional conversations that strengthen healthcare — and they’re long overdue.

This podcast series was created to support accountability, elevate practice standards, and encourage thoughtful dialogue as foot care nursing continues to evolve in Canada.
